Last week, I mentioned that my husband and I took our kids to Long Beach, CA to visit the Queen Mary, have a hotel party and see the Aquarium of the Pacific. Now, I for one believe that if you've seen one aquarium you've seen them all. However, my eight year old daughter and four year old son love -with a capital L- aquariums. I swear we've been to every aquarium, in every city we've visited. I think this can get a bit repetitive, but I take them anyways... because I love them with a capital L.
The Aquarium of the Pacific was a treat, I must say. We went on a Sunday night, and unknown to me, ticket prices for the aquarium after 5pm were like half price! I for one thought this was a great deal since I wasn't planning on staying that long since it was late and the kids were getting tired (um we stayed until closing at 8:30).
As you can see from the pics, the fish and other sea life were beautiful and educational as always. My fav part was learning about the animal hospital they have on site and how they rescue local sea life. My husband (the science geek) enjoyed learning about the pollution problem in the ocean and how we can make changes to better ocean life. The kids had a blast and were totally thrilled with all the exhibits where they could touch...jellyfish, starfish, sharks and sting rays. And as a bonus, because we went late on a Sunday, there were NO crowds, a real bonus when using a stroller.
So if you're ever looking for a large and clean aquarium experience (and in the SoCal area), I do recommend the Aquarium of the Pacific.
