Trying out a FitBit

 My husband and I are obsessed with The Amazing Race {Who's Not??}
and on this new season, the racers are wearing Fitbits.
I had never heard of this but knew I wanted and needed one for my health and exercise routine.
My husband must have known because unbeknownst to me,
he had already ordered one for me! {What a great guy!}
So since Thursday, I've been wearing mine around the clock to track my activity...
  • my calories burned
  • my calorie intake
  • my sleeping patterns
  • my water intake
  • how many steps I'm taking
  • how much weight I've lost
You can set different goals, like how many calories you're burning in a day or for the whole week, or how much you're walking and running. It can even tell you how many "active" minutes you are using in your day vs. resting minutes.
Now, I will say that the only thing that is a bit time consuming is having to manually put in what you are eating (if you want to see the calories added up), however, there is an app you can get for your phone that makes this a much quicker process.So if you type in bagel, a whole list of bagels from different brands and restaurants will pop up with the correct health information...which is pretty cool {Hello calories in 1 bagel!}.

There is also a whole social network feel to the whole thing, from having an easily readable dashboard, to being able to have friends and a community to chat and socialize with. I'm not really using that aspect yet but can see the appeal.
I'm interested in knowing if anyone else is using a Fitbit? There are a wide range of styles and uses for this sweet new active gear. Mine is the Flex and I really like the size of it and how simple it is.

  1. Eventually I want to try it out or something similar...though I'm afraid my son would steal it and use it as a toy. Stopping by from Let's Get Real Blog Hop

    1. Lol my kids keep asking if they can "try it on". It's pretty hard for a child to take off once on, but yeah, I see where you're coming from. Thank you for stopping by. xx

  4. Interesting to read your take on it... I tried one of a different brand (Misfit Shine) but it broke after a week and I haven't been super motivated to get another one. I might have to eventually :) Found you through Sweet Little Ones Blog link up and I have to say your design is SO cute!! :)

  5. I have a fitbit, and LOVE it! I use mine with MyFitnessPal. I was able to lose over 50 lbs, but have gained back 20 :( I have just recently dragged my butt back up on the bandwagon though!
