Selfie Friday +5 Random Things About Me

  1. I married my husband 3 times...yep, we just couldn't do it once. The first time was on a Tuesday, a month before our scheduled wedding. We decided to go after work to the courthouse and be married...we just couldn't wait (heck, we had only been dating 5 months)! We then married a month later in front of friends and family in California. A year later, after the birth of our daughter, we had a big wedding in my husband's hometown in Austria at the same time as our daughter's baptism.
  2. I played water polo in high school... I was always a competitive swimmer and joined the high school water polo team freshmen year. It is a crazy competitive sport and brutal at times but also really exciting.
  3. I'm a certified interior decorator (CID)... Oh yeah, most people don't know this about me because I really don't talk about it, like ever. In 2007, after I had my daughter and on a break from college, I decided to get my license in interior decorating. It was a pretty intense program and I loved every minute of it, as design and decor have always been a passion of mine. I never pursued a career in it as I ended up getting my degree in Social Science and Education and following that path. But I still keep the license up to date for the discounts and perks.
  4. I walked to the hospital while in labor with #3... and walked myself home the next day. This makes me laugh because it is so ridiculous. We lived across the street from the hospital that I delivered in and it was normally about a 4 minutes walk door to door {no problem}. However, walking while in labor took me a cool 15 minutes...my contractions were every 30 seconds at that point. It was 3:30 in the morning, raining and there were stairs. I just couldn't bring myself to drive when I could literally see the delivery wing from my terrace. Jakob was born within the hour after arriving at the hospital.
  5. I got engaged at midnight on New Years Eve... in Salzburg, Austria, on a hotel terrace overlooking the old city center and the fortress Hohensalzburg. There were fireworks and it was snowing. My husband was sooooo nervous. We had only been dating for 3 months and it was a bit of a surprise to me. He put a lot of thought into the whole proposal and it is one of his best moments thus far in our relationship.

  1. I love that you walked to the hospital! I probably would've with my last baby if I could. I waited until the last possible section and had him within minutes of walking through the door.
