Do you ever see a recipe for something that looks too good to be true, only to find out that it was prepared using a method you'd rather not use or using ingredients that you would never touch? It happens to me all the time... which is why I'm always coming up with new recipes!
Well, I saw this recipe for Ramen Noodle fries and was totally blown away, only, they were deep fried. I really try to stay away from fried food {always} and will attempt to come up with other ways to cook food while still achieving similar results. As was the case with the fries, I had to make some original modifications to the recipe I found so that I could bake the fries. It changed the feel of the noodles and became more of a dipper, which is even better!
You might think this is a bit of a weird recipe but I'm telling you, these little dippers {ha} are so good. My kids even had me make another batch because they liked them so much, and that never happens. They are super simple to make and something different to take to a get together, potluck or event. Plus, ramen noodles are so dang inexpensive, it's a great recipe while eating on a budget.
Ingredients:
- 1 package Ramen Noodles
- 3 cups water
- 1 egg
- foil
- 1 cup parmesan cheese
- Italian herbs
Instructions:
- Boil water either in pot or kettle
- Either add noodles to boiling water in pot or add water to noodles in boil {either method is fine as long as the noodles cook}
- Cook noodles until al dente {not too hard, not too soft}
- Drain water from noodles then run noodles under cold water, draining again
- Place in {not hot} bowl and add egg
- Combine egg and noodles
- Dump noodles on foil, cover and fold edges so that noodles are formed into a rectangle or square
- Place in freezer for 30 minutes
- Remove from freezer and cut noodles into strips
- Cover with cheese and herbs
- Place in oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees
- Remove and let sit for 5 minutes
- Enjoy with different dips!
