Summer Day in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

So, I think I've found my new favorite city in Europe! I had the pleasure of taking a day trip to Luxembourg City in the south of the small country of Luxembourg. If you're not familiar to where Luxembourg is located, it is wedged between Belgium and Germany, with it's south border along France. It's a small country, with just over 550,000 people, but it's the richest in all of Europe. And it is stunning!

I thought Switzerland and Austria were clean countries, and don't get me wrong they are, but Luxembourg is CLEAN. The capital city was the cleanest city I have ever been to. Yes, it is small in comparison to other major cities in Europe, and yes, I didn't see the whole thing. But everything was so well maintained and orderly, it was like what I dream my happy place to be. From the moment we drove into the city, my husband and I gave each other a look and started grinning from ear to ear. We had hit the clean and neat person jackpot.

Everything about this city screams wealth and order. At the bus stops along the street the time tables are electronic {I've never seen anything nicer than a sign covered in plastic}, the public bathrooms in a huge public park were nicer than what you'd find in a restaurant in many European countries. The buses were low emission, the people were friendly and overall the feel of the city was safe and welcoming.

We got really lucky because we found a huge playground/park for children with an amazing pirate ship {more on that tomorrow} and the whole city center was a giant kinderfest for children of all ages. We ended up spending most of our time there playing games, making silly hats and getting creative. We spent so much time playing that we actually ran out of time to explore the old city and ruins; the price you pay to travel with kids I guess. The city is small so we saw pretty much all the important buildings and sights, and walked in the expansive parks. The weather couldn't have been better, I swear we've been so lucky over the last month with weather and sightseeing.

While in Europe, if you can plan a trip to Luxembourg, a country that I think most people pass on when in Central Europe, I'd try and take a day trip here. I know that my husband and I really want to come back, as it was extremely child friendly, shopper friendly and the food was something special, too. As a side note, the city has the nicest Pizza Hut I have ever seen... like, full blown gourmet Italian restaurant style fancy lol.

Have you or anyone you know been to Luxembourg? I'm curious as I've never talk to anyone who's been here!
