Button Spiders Garland

Since Labor Day has passed, does that mean we can start decorating for Halloween, huh?? My brother was born on this spooky night and growing up my mom always outdid herself with the Halloween decor. I have never done what she always did each year but really want to get in the spirit this year.

These little creepy crawly button spiders are simple to make and can be used for a number of crafts. I chose to make a garland for my mantle, since I wanted to go more Haloweenie and less Fallish for the months of September and October. My kids love the little spiders and can't wait to make more for their treat bags.

What you need:
  • 48 small, medium and large buttons {makes 24 spiders}
  • hot glue gun
  • any colored puff paint
  • 8 meters of embroidery thread, black or gray
  • white yarn
Method:
  • Hot glue two different sized buttons together to resemble the head and body of a spider
  • Add two eyes to each spider using puff paint
  • Cut 96 1.5-2.5 inch strips of thread {I used the whole 8 meters}
  • Hot glue 4 cuts of thread to the back center of each spider, making 8 legs
  • Attach the spiders to the yarn using one dot of hot glue, about 4 inches apart
  • Tie a loop at both ends of the yarn so that you can hang the garland
