Simple Sleeping Bag Invitations

I mentioned the other day that my Heidi had her first sleep over at our house over the weekend. It was so fun! We kept the party super small, partly because Heidi wanted to give all her attention to her closest friends, and also because there was no way I could handle a ton of girls lol. I got really lucky that Jakob fell asleep just before the party started and didn't wake up until 7 am the next morning! It was like some sort of sleep over miracle, I swear. And Lukas went to a friend's house for the night, so it was just the girls and me having a great time together.

Once Heidi mentioned she wanted to have a sleep over, I knew I wanted to make some sort of sleeping bag invite. She changed the theme of the party at least a dozen times, which made creating an invitation difficult... I basically just took over and made a basic sleeping bag invite that would go with any theme she went with. As it turned out, she said no to a themed party and headed in a color direction that matched the invites I made {go figure!}.

These sleeping bag invites are pretty simple to make and turned out so darn cute. It kind of happened by accident when one of the envelopes I got opened on it's own... creating an open sleeping bag effect. So there wasn't to much thinking on my part except for the decorating part. I also found a cute pillow in clip art that just added to the sleeping bag effect {although if you don't have clip art, the sleeping bag still is super cute}! You can design whatever invite to put inside the sleeping bag and can decorate them in so many fun ways.

What you need:
  • 1 set pocket envelopes {I found these cute chevron envelopes at Walmart}
  • 2 buttons
  • hot glue
  • washi tape
What you'll do:
  • Open and bend the back of the envelope along the seam, half way
  • Hot glue corner down and glue the buttons on
  • Decorate with washi tape to cover other seam on bottom of envelope
  • ** If your envelope has a straight edge, use fancy cut scissors to create a soft edge
  • Type up, design and print an invite and cut to fit in your envelope
  • Place actual invite inside your sleeping bag envelope and enjoy passing them out!
