A Killer Date Night

My hubs finally arrived home Friday night after another long stay in Europe working, and I wanted to do something different and fun for a much needed date night. When we have the opportunity to go out {just the two of us} we usually do the same things, which is okay because let's face it, we're alone... together... but spicing it up a bit and adding something exciting was much needed. What's more fun and different than a night of mystery and detective work?? Dinner theater was something I've always liked but something my hubs had never been to.

Have you heard of The Murder Mystery Co.? They put on murder mystery entertainment during dinner parties, privately or for the public at a restaurant. Our tickets were for a show in downtown San Diego {if you ever have the chance to go to downtown San Diego, I highly recommend it!!} at the Old Spaghetti Factory. There are many different themes for the murder mystery shows and ours was Midnight at the Masquerade. Guests were suppose to dress in masks, ball gowns and tuxes, however, most people dressed in black tie attire. I wore my bridesmaid dress from my sister's wedding, an I.N.C. coat I only wear in Europe, and some vintage costume jewelry from the 20's. I also brought along a Venetian mask I bought in Venice but didn't wear. I will say that it was really nice to dress up fancy for a date with the hubs and not be going to a wedding.

Once the doors opened at 5:30, 30 minutes before the show started, all the actors were in character and we were given our guidelines, roles and play money. Once the show started, participants that were given a role and the actors all went to town on the story and the mystery of  'who done it?' There were people at each table chosen to be a part of the show, suspects in the mystery, and we all had to collect clues to try and solve who killed the General. It was pretty interactive and the actors did a great job at keeping the audience involved in the show, even when we were eating. My husband even got chosen as a character and was called up to participate in front of the room. At the end of the show, when we were to guess who the killer was and why, I may have led my group in the wrong direction and we had the worst answer lol receiving the Dead Last Place award ha ha! Overall though, it was good fun and a night of dress up, no kids and good food.
