Frozen Blueberry Banana Sorbet

This morning, I was looking to make smoothies for my little guys since we're all sick and I'm trying to get as many vitamins and whole foods in our bodies to fight off all these bugs that seem to keep plaguing us. I had froze some bananas last week since no one was eating them and I didn't want them to spoil. I knew from previous recipes that frozen bananas made for some delicious banana sorbet, so I thought I would mix in some blueberries and make an even sweeter sorbet for my kids. {I was surprised at how sweet this sorbet is}.The best part is, they think they're eating a dessert when really it's an all natural, no sugar added dish that can be eaten at any time of the day. And since sorbet is dairy free, I can enjoy it, too! Oh, and it's super simple to make, which is always a good thing when cooking with kids.

What you need:
  • 3 frozen bananas {peeled before freezing}
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 cups of water, divided
  • coconut flakes for topping {optional}
What you'll do:
  • Remove frozen bananas from the freezer and place in food processor or blender.
  • Add frozen blueberries and one cup of water.
  • Blend/mix for 15-30 seconds.
  • Stir and add the other cup of water.
  • Blend/mix until all ingredients are smooth. You might need to stir a few more times if the sorbet gets to thick.
  • Serve and garnish with coconut flakes.
  • Enjoy!

Have you tried homemade sorbet before? Do you have other simple recipes to share? Let me know in the comments so others can try it!
Have a great day!

  3. Yum! This would be a great summer treat. I can't do the coconut though, i'm allergic. It seems like anything that is tasty I can't have. Haha.

  5. Love it! I make combos like this for my kids all summer long (and even in the winter!!). Usually we just do banana, or banana strawberry. Love the coconut addition. My kids actually think this IS ice cream ;) I haven't broken the news to them yet. I love that they continue to think it's a special treat :)
